To majority of those of us that call ourselves Christians, I am disappointed in us; to those that are not Christians, I am sorry for you.
Let me start with the Christians: We tell the world that we are different and that we have to live different to live like Christ, but then we act like the world in the next moment, when church is over and we're out to lunch with our church friends. Our concerts no longer set us apart anymore either. Recently I attend Winter Jam; the concert that has ten different artists and is only $10 at the door and always sells out here in Oklahoma. I have to say that I was disappointed in a few of the performances. Batistelli is one is was looking forward to seeing, but after her second song it made me rethink my thoughts about her and the concert as a whole. She performed a song that is frequently played on the club stations and is not by a Christian artist in the first place. As Christians, why should non-Christians become like us when we are no different than them? To those of you who are not Christians, I am sorry. I am sorry that you have hypocrites as your examples, but we're only human, and we can only strive for the perfection of God. But I am sorry that sometimes we fail to show the love and the true nature of God in a way that shows how set apart we really should be. I can only hope and pray that you find it in your heart to not only look at the Christian you see on the street and at churches and concerts, but that you see the Christian way that is very clearly laid out in the Bible that so many of us strive for yet fail to achieve. Do not be too judgmental of us, we should beg of you, for we judge ourselves much more than you can of, and we realize that we are flawed. I challenge you to dig into the Bible and see for yourself how we should live as Christians, and then decide for yourself if that is a way that you wish to follow.
